Community Spatial Futures - Empowering Spatial Planning

Understanding Territory, Strengthening Decisions

Community Spatial Futures (CSF) is a solo practice supporting households, community groups, and local actors to build clearer understanding of their territory and explore practical steps toward long‑term resilience. The work focuses on water, land, energy, and the everyday systems that shape how people live.

Spatial Mentoring for Everyday Decisions

Spatial mentoring is a steady process of understanding how your environment works and what becomes possible when decisions are grounded in clarity and context. Using simple tools and structured conversations, we explore practical, low‑risk steps that fit your situation.

People think more clearly when they have time, space, and support. My role is to help build that clarity and confidence so decisions grow from real‑world conditions, not pressure or guesswork.

Household Water‑Efficient Food Production Support

I work with households and community groups to explore small, water‑efficient ways to grow food using hydroponics, aquaponics, and other low‑risk methods. Much of this work draws on the Agri‑Mud Hut prototype, where I’m developing and testing simple approaches that can be adapted to different contexts.

Together we explore:

  • what’s possible in your space
  • how water moves and is used
  • small experiments that build confidence
  • practical steps that can grow over time

The focus is always on low‑risk, affordable improvements that fit real‑world conditions.

Long-Term Spatial Mentoring

I work alongside local actors who want steady support as they navigate the everyday decisions that shape their territory. This is slow, relational work. building understanding over time through simple frameworks and regular conversations grounded in real‑world conditions.

Together we explore patterns in water, land, energy, and resilience, developing clarity and confidence step by step. The focus is on creating space to think, understand, and make practical decisions that grow at a manageable pace.

Animal Enrichment, Wellbeing, Agency & Coexistence Systems

Many households rely on animals for mobility, income, or daily life. I support people to improve the wellbeing of their animals through simple enrichment ideas, thoughtful shelter and water placement, and small spatial adjustments that make a meaningful difference.

This work is grounded in observation, conversation, and practical steps that fit real‑world conditions. The focus is always on low‑risk, affordable changes that strengthen animal wellbeing and support safer coexistence over time.

Landscape‑Scale Animal Agency & Coexistence Programmes

Community Spatial Futures is developing early frameworks for landscape‑scale systems that support animal agency, reduce stress, and strengthen coexistence. This includes work on simple spatial interfaces — such as the placement of water, shelter, pathways, or cues that guide movement — and behavioural architecture that shapes safer, lower‑stress patterns through the design of the environment itself.

These approaches are being explored through CSF’s household and community‑scale pilots, including experiments at the Agri‑Mud Hut. As the methodology develops, the aim is to shape adaptable, context‑specific programmes that can be used with conservation teams, researchers, and local actors in the future.

Community Spatial Futures is a solo spatial mentoring practice based in London.
